United is attacking Delta’s fares to Sydney and Melbourne for about $1,100. Will not last. Australia is VERY expensive to fly to — even on sales, its normally over $1,500.

American citizens do need a visa to visit Australia. It is electronic and can be applied online — but you need it before travel. They will NOT let you board your flight without it.

Fare Availability:

• Valid for travel from February, 2016 – June, 2016 for Monday through Thursday departures and returns. Must purchase at least 14 days in advance of departure.

• Please note that while this fare is valid at time of posting, if this post is more than two days old, the fare is most likely gone.

How to Search for Availability:

• Use ITA Software Matrix Airfare Search and use the following search criteria:

• Departing from: ATL
  • For Detroit availability, replace ATL with DTW on the Departing from: field
  • For Minneapolis availability, replace ATL with MSP on the Departing from: field
• Outbound Advanced Routing Code: ua+ /f bc=L
• Destination:  SYD
  • For Melbourne availability, replace SYD with MEL on Destination field:
• Return Advanced Routing Code: ua+ /f bc=L
• (Click on Advanced Routing Codes link to enable advanced routing code input)
• Select “See calendar of lowest fares”
• Length of stay “3-10″. The maximum range is 7 days, so enter ranges like so: 0-7, 5-12, 7-14, etc.
