• Use ITA Software Matrix Airfare Search and use the following search criteria:

• Departing from: DTW
• Outbound Advanced Routing Code: ua+
• Destination:  HKG
• Return Advanced Routing Code: ka pvg ua+
• (Click on Advanced Routing Codes link to enable advanced routing code input)
• Select “See calendar of lowest fares”
• Length of stay “0-7″. The maximum range is 7 days, so enter ranges like so: 0-7, 5-12, 7-14, etc.

Sample Routing:

• DTW – ORD (Chicago) – HKG (Hong Kong) – PVG (Shanghai) – ORD (Chicago) – DTW. The segment between Shanghai and Hong Kong will be operated by Dragonair

Sample Mileage:

• 16,080 miles or 4.5  cents per mile. The segment between Hong Kong and Shanghai will not earn miles with United. As such you will earn 15,313 miles or 4.8 cents per mile. The Dragonair segment can be credit to Cathay Pacific or British Airways at 25% mileage or 193 miles.
